Headache from computer

Get Rid Of Headache From Staring At Computer Naturally [Trick Proved]

Posted on January 6, 2023

Those who work a lot in front of the computer are familiar with headaches, which can occur even a few times a week. Today computer work is one of the most common types of jobs so a lot of the population is dealing with the headache from staring at a screen.

Even if your job doesn’t include computer work, you can find yourself with headache from staring at a phone screen for too long or watching TV too much.

When this occurs, most of us don’t have any other idea on how to deal with it but medications. But you know, too often medication consumption leads to liver issues. Surely it’s not healthy to consume too much medication but how to get rid of this boring headache then?

Nature always has the answer. Yeah, I know, you’ve tried various teas yet and nothing helped. Well, in this article, I won’t recommend you natural ways for healing like teas, herbs, healthy food, quality sleep, and so on. No, you can find it all in other sources and try it, absolutely. Luck to you if it helps. I will present to you my way of dealing with headache from the computer.

When Can I Expect Relief?

I guarantee, by following the process I’ll describe, you can get rid of your issue for 1-3 hours. It’s ideal for those who have a lot of plans for the time after work so they don’t have much time to spend on resting or sleeping, waiting for the headache to get lost. And you are right if you think like this. The fact is that we spend most of our time at work so we definitely should use our free time for things we enjoy doing. It’s a shame to let work coordinate our life by giving us headaches.

Well, every time you feel a headache after work, the first step is not let despair to win. Be brave and start immediately with the home remedy I’ll describe to you now.

How Do You Stop A Headache From Looking At A Screen?

Mint Oil

Most people start to heal the headache by massaging their heads. However, the headache occurs when the shoulder and neck muscles get too tight which blocks the blood flow to the head. If you try to touch your shoulders when you feel a headache from staring at the computer, you’ll feel how sturdy your shoulders are. The problem solution lies right there.

To make your muscles relaxed, it’s best to use something that will give you a cooling effect. I found mint oil best for that purpose. It’s cheap, you need it in very small amounts, and the effect is amazing.

Pour very little, just 2-3 drops of the mint oil on your fingers and spread it on your shoulders, just next to your neck. Take care not to spend too much amount of mint oil. Just after spreading it, you won’t feel the cooling effect but after up to 5 minutes, it starts cooling you and as time passes, the effect is more and more intense. That’s why it’s important to use mint oil in moderation.

The mint oil is available in any drug store bio shop or you can find it online and buy it for an affordable price. It’s really profitable since you don’t need it in big amounts so it lasts for a couple of months.

Mint Oil Helps While Suffering From Headache

After you spread it, lay down or take a comfortable position and close your eyes. At these 20 minutes (or more if you feel you need more), it’s crucial to relax completely so no thoughts should be in your mind. If music relaxes you even more, let the music play.

During the whole process, it’s important to be hydrated so you can make some tea (Camilla, mint, valerian, or any other tea for relaxing will be fine) or drink clear water.

Self Massage

When you feel you rested enough, gently get in the sitting position and start with self-massage. That will make your blood circulation even better.

Push your skin with your fingers and move your hand from your neck to the arms. Massage your left shoulder with your right hand first and then change the side. Instead of your hands, a shoulder massager might help here, too.

Exercise

Just after the massage, start moving your shoulders in circles. Repeat it 10 times and rest. After that, move your arms the same way. Don’t overdo the exercise. Just gently and just in the dose that makes you feel good.

Now you already could feel relief. The whole process is not done yet, though. If you stop now, the headache might come back, so it’s better to do the process till the end until you feel completely healed.

Walk and Fresh Air

A relaxing walk helps a lot. Still feeling the cooling effect from the mint oil on your shoulders, go on fresh air. Walk slowly, no need to hurry. You shouldn’t use a watch but walk until you feel it’s enough for you.

Walking and fresh air help

While walking, try to be in an upright position. The upright posture is really important because now we’re in an attempt to activate blood circulation and bad posture makes it only worse.

Shower Or Bath

When you come back from the walk, maybe you won’t feel a headache anymore. It depends on how hard the headache from the screen was. Get the shower and relax completely under the hot water. Or cold. It depends on your preferences and the season.

A bath could also be relaxing. Place a full-body bath pillow in the bathtub, pour warm water, and relax for 20-30 minutes.

Choose your type of relaxation in water. The water will remove the mint oil from your shoulders so you can use it again if the cooling effect helps.

Child’s Position

Now it’s time for complete rest. For that purpose, it’s best to place your body in a yoga posture called a child’s pose. In that pose, your head is turned to the floor and your front head is touching the floor. Your knees are bent and your arms lay on the floor in front of you.

It’s a great position to relieve headaches because your shoulders are open, and there’s no pressure on them so the blood can flow well.

Yoga pose called Child’s pose

Inhale and exhale in that pose, let the thoughts get gone and relax completely. After 10-20 minutes, you may feel it’s enough relaxation for you because you might start to feel complete relief from the headache! The yoga child pose is often the step when I find myself completely healed from a headache from looking at screens.

How To Maintain Yourself With No Headache?

When you feel the headache is gone, you’ll literally celebrate. But don’t let the euphoria overwhelms you and you forget there even was such a headache. In that situation, you might start to sit in front of the computer again or take your phone and scroll through social media news.

No more screens for today. They are forbidden. Even watching your favorite movie or a Netflix series is not a good idea. Relax your eyes, relax your shoulders, and your whole body. And don’t forget to stay in the upright position.

What If It Doesn’t Help? – Try Ice Cube!

There’s one more trick I used to practice when I felt a headache after the whole day starting at the computer. The summer is great to practice since there’s probably a lot of ice in your fridge and you don’t feel cold while doing this.

How does the technique with the ice cube work? Lay down on your stomach and put an ice cube on your neck, just below your hair. It’s shown the trick gives a lot of benefits for the whole body and in the situation when you feed the headache from staring at screens, you’ll experience the benefit after 20-30 minutes.

Ice cube placed on the neck provides many benefits

You’ll feel a strong cooling effect on your neck. Don’t move and relax while the ice cube stands on you. The ice cube will probably get melt after 30 minutes. When you stand up again, you should feel refreshed. The feeling is really unbelievable!

If you still feel a little pulsing in your head, do the self-massage, exercises, walk, and child pose. Relax and keep a good posture all the time and the headache should get gone.

Option Plus: Eye Massager

If nothing helps, an eye massager used for migraines may help. If your headache is so painful that you still feel it after all the treatments described above, lay down and let the eye massager relax you. It’s especially useful to help you fall asleep.

Conclusion

The headache caused by looking at screens definitely can be healed without medications. You can try milt oil or ice cube technique. Both are intense, showing the effects just after a few minutes. You can try them both and see which one works better for you.

Body systems are different so there’s no one solution for everyone but you should experiment and see what’s good for you. I want you to succeed to beat the headache with these natural tricks and to be relaxed at work as more as possible to prevent new headaches. We deserve to live our lives as we want so don’t let work serve you the headache and force you to take it home.
