Has it happened to you, too? You’re at a party and there is a crowd of people but still, you feel so lonely…
How is it possible between all these people? – you think turning around in search of an adequate person to put an end to your loneliness.
Well, the point is not in the company around your but in you. Feeling alone in a crowded room refers to the inner issue. Let’s see what it is about.
Why Do I Feel Alone When I’m Not Alone?
Feeling loneliness when you’re alone is considered normal (although it shouldn’t be). But loneliness in a crowd of people is not so common. Even most people think so. However, feeling alone in a large group of people is more often than you think. What’s the reason people feel like that?
Low Self-Worth
This can be due to a sense of not being understood or accepted, or experiencing feelings of low self-worth. These two reasons are connected. How? When lacking self-esteem, you have the feeling nobody understands you. In your perception, it seems like everybody is on another level so everything you’re talking about is ignored or not accepted the way you think it should be. But the thing is since you don’t appreciate yourself so much, you think others also don’t care about you.
You’re Under Pressure
Additionally, the feeling of loneliness in a crowd can be caused by feeling overwhelmed in an environment that is too stimulating or overstimulated. You know, when you come to a party and everybody is excited. Everybody is laughing, dancing, and enthusiastically shouting so it’s expected of you to do the same.
If your character or the current mood is different from the atmosphere in the crowd, it’s obvious you’re feeling alone among all these people. You feel you don’t belong to the crowd.

Not Interesting People
One more reason for feeling alone in a crowded room may be that you don’t find the stories of the people around you very interesting. You just can’t complete that group. Still, if you have enough self-esteem, you shouldn’t feel so lonely but only bored. In that case, move from that group and go in search of a better one or leave the meeting if it’s possible. If it is not, try to withstand it. Be there for yourself, comfort yourself in your thoughts and everything will pass soon.
How To Deal With That Feeling?
If you recognized the trigger for the loneliness in your case is the lack of self-worth, you only need to restructure your mind. Get rid of subconscious patterns that make you feel less worthy than others. It’s good to use visualizations and guided meditations to achieve that.
As your self-esteem will grow, your love for yourself will also grow and the feeling that you’re alone will decrease, regardless of where are you – in an empty or crowded room.
You’ll never be alone. You’ll always have – yourself.

Finding Right Match
One more approach to managing this feeling is to try to find someone that you can connect with and talk to. This could be an acquaintance or even a stranger, but finding someone who can relate to your feelings of loneliness can help provide some relief from the sensation.
Engaging in activities that bring joy and contentment can also be beneficial for managing loneliness. For example, if you’re at a party, choose the activity that amuses you the most – karaoke, dance, a poker tournament, joining the billiard guys, and so on. Just relax and neglect who is listening to you and who is not. Disregard how people react to your talking, jokes, or behavior. The main attention should be on yourself.
Final Thoughts
Feeling alone can be a difficult and confusing experience, especially when you are surrounded by people. Dealing with loneliness in a crowd can be a difficult and daunting experience. The reason could be a lack of self-worthiness and love for yourself or just not-matching people. Whatever the cause, feeling alone when you are not alone can lead to feelings of sadness and confusion that need to be addressed and treated in order to live a happy and fulfilling life.
